Cork, Ireland

I came home from Italy late Friday evening, rested Saturday and hit the travel scene hard again on Sunday, traveling to Cork which is in Southern Ireland. Sarah and I caught a bus from Galway to Cork which took about 3 hours. Upon our arrival we were presented with this beautiful view.

The first stop was Blarney Castle to kiss the Blarney stone.
Me kissing the Blarney Stone after climbing 1,000 steps and being hung upsidedown.

Me in the "Murder Hole" Any unwelcome visitors entering the lobby below were easily deterred from further entry with arrows, rocks, or boiling liquids dispatched from above.

A castle/home on the grounds.

At the beginning of the morning I woke up a bit homesick but after seeing these 2,000 pound creatures my heart was healed.

Wishing Steps For hundreds of years the Blarney Witch has taken firewood from the Estate for her kitchen. In return she must grant out visitors wishes. If you can walk down and back up these steps with your eyes closed and without for one moment thinking of anything other than a wish, then that wish will come true within a year.

After we left the Blarney Castle grounds we headed back into town to kill sometime before catching the 3 hours bus headed back to Galway. We stopped at Subway for some lunch and then walked around downtown. A great way to spend a Sunday. Relaxing yet productive. LOVED IT!

  1. Hey....seems like you had a far more meaningful
visit to Blarney Castle. We did not see nearly
as much as you and Sarah but then again we were
on a tour...and on a schedule!!! Plus we are
not nearly as young or as energetic!!!
    xoxo
